Capacity Building Programme for MDAS
(14th - 15th of October, 2010)

The Lagos State Public-Private Partnership Office organized a capacity building programme for Ministry Departments and Agencies (MDAs) between 14th and 15th of October 2010 to raise awareness amongst decision makers and promote a shared understanding of the State PPP policy thrust and implementation strategy.

The two-day Training afforded participants the  opportunity of benefitting from the experience of leading international practitioners in the field including the widely published author Ned Yescombe, along with other international experts such as; Mashal Levine (UK), John Hodges (USA), Tazonia Chaponda (South Africa), Kayode Khalidson (Nigeria) as well as  Stephen Raggett (UK).

The Training was well attended by top Government Officials including; The Commissioner for Environment- Dr. Muiz Banire, Commissioner for Information & Strategy-Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, Commissioner for Physical Planning & Urban Development-TPL Francisco Abosede, Commissioner for Housing Mr. Dele Onabokun, Commissioner for Science & Technology-Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Commissioner for Health-Dr. Jide Idris, Commissioner for Economic Planning & Budget-Mr. Ben Akabueze, Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftancy Affairs-Mr. Rotimi Agunsoye, Special Adviser on Commerce & Industry- Mrs. Sola Oworu, Special,  Adviser on Works & Infrastructure-Engr. The 5th Lagos Economic Summit - Ehingbeti 2010
(20th - 22nd of April, 2010)

The PPP Office in conjunction with the Lagos State Economic Summit Group organised the 5th edition of the Lagos Economic Summit - Ehingbeti 2010. With the theme -  Lagos: Investment Opportunities in Africa’s Emerging Model Mega City, the summit showcased the extant investment opportunities available across sectors in Lagos to a target audience of investment decision makers, corporate policy advisers, fund managers etc.

A number of bankable projects were also offered to investors during the Summit through an exhibition by various MDAs including the PPP Office. In addition to a display of investment opportunities, Ehingbeti 2010 also provided an opportunity for dialogue, networking and positive engagement on critical factors that will enhance the evolution of a roadmap that will foster the growth and development of Lagos.

In all, the Summit was deemed a success as it was able to draw global attention to investment opportunities that abound in Lagos as Africa’s emerging model mega city and that in the nearest future; it could be the Dubai of Africa.     


Lagos State PPP/ICRC Public-Private Partnership Interactive Forum
(27th January 2010)

The PPP Office in conjunction with the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) organised a public – private forum to discuss the challenges confronting PPPs. In addition, the forum created a platform for the development of modalities that would facilitate the building of a strong and virile PPP market in Lagos State.

One of the immediate gains of the Forum was the desire expressed by the  African Development Fund (ADF) to partner with the Lagos State Government in the areas of capacity building and input into PPPs in the power and transportation sectors. 


India - ECOWAS Business Forum
(14th and 16th January 2010)

The Lagos PPP Office facilitated the participation of the Lagos State Government in the forum organised by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Indian Business Community.

The forum was well attended by delegates from across West Africa and Asia. It created an avenue for interaction between local and foreign investors. An exhibition was held throughout the duration of the event and the Lagos State PPP Office had an information desk, which provided information on investment opportunities in Lagos State.


Lagos State PPP/CBC Infrastructure Investors Forum
(18th-19th November 2009)

The PPP Office in collaboration with the Commonwealth Business Council held an Infrastructure Investors Forum at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Participants at this forum included 120 foreign investors from Asia, Europe, America and Africa in addition to Nigerian based attendees. Following the workshop, site visits of potential projects were organised for prospective investors to provide a first-hand experience of the investment opportunities.

Project sites visited include:

Lekki Free Zone Simpson Waste Transfer Loading Station
Abijo Housing Scheme LASUTH/Gbagada General Hospital
Akute/Iju Water Works  


Lagos State PPP/ICRC Workshop
(23rd-24th and 26th -27th October 2009)

In a bid to facilitate an inclusive and well coordinated PPP market in Nigeria and foster a cordial relationship with stakeholders, the Lagos State PPP Office in conjunction with the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) organised a workshop at the Reiz Continental Hotel Abuja for Government agencies both at the state and national level.

The forum availed the PPP Office an opportunity to share experiences with both local and foreign players on current trends and development in Public-Private Partnerships.
